|“Hi, I’ve owned my ’56 Buick Special 4 dr wagon for about 6 months. It was purchased off Ebay from a guy in Long Beach. I drove the car home about 70 miles to where I live. It’s powered by a 1956 322″ Nailhead engine with electronic ignition, featuring Finned Moon Valve covers, Finned Air cleaner, and Finned Sparkplug covers. It currently has a 2 barrel carb, but I am looking to update to a four barrel manifold. It’s got factory Power brakes, and Power Steering and a Dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. The exhaust was added after the exterior shots of the car. I have since purchased some 5 x 5 wheel adapters (Motorsport Technology , CA) in order to put the Boyd’s custom 17″ Wheels on the car. 245×45 17″ tires up front, 255×55 17″ tires on the rear.
The interior is just the way I bought it, in a nice complimentary red and white and includes an under dash air conditioning system.I have also added Custom AutoSound AM/FM radio with cassette and CD controls and a ten CD changer. The body and paint are stock and the car still has its original paint which is starting to fade a little and will soon be in need of a little attention. I am in the process of geting some new springs from Eaton Springs that will lower the car 1 1/2 to 2″ in the front. I am also going to update the shocks to gas charged all the way around. I plan to put front disc brakes on it. I currently looking for the elusive 700R adapter to change out the transmission and if I do that, I will probably install a 9″ Ford rear-end with disc brakes.
I am also a member of a club called the Over the Hill Gang, (see rear window shot) This club is for pre 1948 cars. My Buick wont qualify so I am looking for a pre 48 to bulid. So far I have owned the following streetrods, 30 A coupe, 32 Ford 2dr Sedan, 32 Ford Hiboy roadster, and a 41 Willys pickup with a Chrysler Hemi. Other than updating the paint, I plan no others mods. I just plan to enjoy cruising in sunny Inland Empire of Southern California.
I love the colour of this car, I vote that you keep it the same if it gets a new paint job. I used to own a 1956 GM sedan so this car takes me back a few years. Love those Boyd wheels. This car has just the right touch of classic and custom and really brightens up the place doesn’t it? Thanks for giving us the opportunity to share in this magnificent classic Buick Jack.
