" I have owned two other Buicks previous to this one over the last 20 years but I hadn't owned one for some 10 years. I felt the Buick fever once again so I decided to start looking for another G.S. After looking for four months with no luck and encountering 6 to 8 entire basket case G.S's for between 4600 dollars and 8000 dollars I ran across this solid Skylark.....only problem was it wasnt a real G.S.

Rather than shell out 15-20k for a real mechanically solid G.S. I decide this solid Skylark was the way to go for me. With alot of new parts in it and along with being an original Florida car (low rust) I thought it was the perfect candidate for me to take it to the next level.

This is a buckets and console Skylark that is badged as a gs 350. The motor was totally rebuilt using a 268 crower cam, high volume oil pump, ignitor hei ignition kit,4 core radiator. The car sounds good and runs pretty well free of rattles etc. Front and rear suspensions were rebuilt using stock oem parts , front and rear oem sway bars added, 3:08 rear end rebuilt, a street strip turbo 350 with a 2000 stall converter was added, a fiberglass gs hood was added by the previous owner with hood pins (unfortunately). I have been unable to locate a stock gs metal hood so the glass one stays for now.Factory exhaust manifolds with true dual exhaust and Walker mufflers were installed. Air conditioning was converted to a cfc free system. The car is painted Dodge Pacific Blue.

When I got the car my first order of business was to straighten out the mechanicals by putting it all back to stock as close as possible. Previous owners had rigged the car alot adding wires here and there under the hood and neglecting maintenance. I decided to do the entire interior work myself as this was my third Skylark / G.S. and had always paid someone else to do it before. I thought it came out pretty good for my first time. The car was originally bamboo cream with a goldish beige interior which had to go ! So black seat skins were my choice and look great. I used all Year One restoration parts for the most part. I believe I am only the third owner of this car."

"Here's a photo of my Skylark parked out the back of the motel during The 2001 Buick Nationals. It has a 455 motor, 1972 BB code 400 Turbo Transmission and a 12 bolt rear with 4.10 gears. Car is currently dismantled for a frame-off restoration. I hope to have it back together for the 2003 Buick Nationals."

Nice car Mike, I like it. A lot. 455 with a 4.10...Wooooohee! Good luck with the restoration, send pics when it's done or even as you go along - Bill
